Frequently Asked Questions

Helping Police and First Responders Redefine Adversity - Day 1 through Retirement.

What makes Foundation IV a nonprofit organization?

Foundation IV is an official tax-exempt nonprofit organization governed by a professional Board of Directors. This operating model means the board oversees the mission, bylaws, funding, and support to ensure the highest level of integrity.

All support and donations for Foundation IV are regulated and monitored by the Board of Directors to comply with state and federal tax guidelines. Our treasurer, Jennifer Sery, keeps detailed accounts of every donation, which the board can access at any time.

As a nonprofit organization, we operate differently from a for-profit business. We operate under a charitable model and have gained a Federal Tax-Exempt Status (EIN 88-2940344), allowing tax-deductible donations.

What do my donations fund?

We are a small nonprofit operated through donations. Even a small nonprofit has many expenses. These include monthly business operating expenses, attorney’s fees, insurance, tax preparation fees, training supplies, and modest travel expenses. You may designate how you want your donation to be applied in the notes section on the donation box or by emailing us.

Our training team is comprised of full-time first responders, and all Foundation IV services are scheduled on “days off” from our work as first responders. Our team volunteers all hours of service for travel, course facilitation, and individual/small group connecting

For more information, see our About Page and Partner/Donor Page.

How do Online Donations, Fees, and Other Donation options work?

We use DonorBox to facilitate secure and streamlined options for online donations. This method allows donors to make one-time and ongoing donations via PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit card, and other payments. Donors using this method can also cover the associated service fees. These service fees are relatively small for many donations, and Foundation IV is very grateful to those who choose to cover these fees.

Donors who do not wish to use an online option or wish to avoid the online service fees may contact us directly to donate via cash, check, or money order.

What are Foundation IV's greatest needs?

Our requests for connecting and training increase each month. We need regular monthly support to facilitate these requests. Even small ongoing support goes a long way to help offset our monthly expenses. For more information visit our Partner/Donor page.

Do you have a virtual training option?

The content and presentation of our training is not ideal for virtual audiences. There is a significant positive impact of in-person training and connecting to build wellness and resilience.

If you would like more information about scheduling a training event in your area or need help with travel options, please contact us at info@foundationiv.com.

Do you conduct training for individual agencies?

We conduct individual agency training on a limited basis. Most individual agency training is due to the larger size of the specific agency. For the most part, all our training is open to a broader audience of first responders. This ensures we maximize our mission.

For more information, or if you would like to host a training event, please contact us at:

info@foundationiv.com.

How far will your team travel?

Our team is willing and able to travel anywhere in the United States. For out-of-state travel, we like to coordinate training well in advance to ensure the associated travel costs can be covered.

Our training is open to all first responders. This includes police, fire, EMS, corrections, emergency communications, parole and probation, and others who have a direct role in the first responder community. All ranks and positions are encouraged to attend.

Do you have any training for spouses and families?

We are currently developing a one-day course for spouses and families. This is on track to be available in 2023.

How is Foundation IV training different from other wellness training?

We use a concept-based training model focusing on mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness and resilience. This allows individuals and groups to apply the information more specifically within their lives and organizations.

Additionally, our team are current first responders with an enormous amount of personal and professional experience related to this topic. We have the unique ability to connect these concepts with other first responders.
