Perspective

When considering the great rewards and great costs of being a first responder, perspective is key. Perspective focused on truth and faith helps keep our emotions, daily pressures, and the realities of life in proper context and order. Truth focuses on who God is and what He has done for each of us, and faith takes God at His Word. His promises are unshakable and His ways are good - all the time.

Several years ago, I wrote a list of specific names of cops and first responders to pray for each week. The list has increased every year, and I continue to pray for each person every week. I believe God always uses prayer in a powerful way—even when we don’t see or feel it.

This time of weekly prayer eventually turned into a short devotional message I sent to a small group of first responders. However, with each passing day, I meet police and first responders who desire community, encouragement, and hope.

Below, you will find links to some of these prior messages, with new messages posted weekly. Whether you are believing, searching, or just mildly curious, I pray these messages will be a source of encouragement, hope, strength, and community. I’m proud to serve with you.
